Today we did sketches and plans of our front cover, our double page spread and our contents page. We designed the layout of where we wanted our images and the writing.
For my front cover i mapped out where i wanted my sell lines and main image of my artist and what specific things magazines need on a front cover. i marked out where i wanted the masthead and other little specific details.
For my contents page i had detailed stories which featured ion some of my sell lines on the cover with page numbers to direct the readers. i mapped out where i wanted my images also
For my double page spread i designed where i wanted the article to go and where i wanted my images and sub headings/title to go.

Today we made questionnaires to give out to see what type of music people like. we included several questions from do you even buy music magazines? to their age and occupation and how they ind out about new music.
We made these questionnaires so we could find out what sort of target audience we were reaching out for and what type of music magazine we wanted to create.
We got the feedback from our questionnaire and made them into various different graphs and tables comparing our informstion that we recieved. This helped us plan out what music magazine we were going to create and what it needed to include.

Weekly journal
Today we researched double paged spreads and interviews with different artists. We looked at both types of double paged spreads, editorials and interviews. I decided i was going to do an editorial as it best suited my target audience and the sort of magazine i wanted to create. i want an open free flowing and natural editorial with quotes from my artist relating to the topic i will include. we created drafts of our editorial using guidelines of other magazines online that we found to help us structure our article. from researching other article it made us aware of the questions we needed to include and the different types of questions we would ask whether they'd be open or closed.

Today we went out and took the images for our magazine. We took over 10 images but had to decide on no more than 5 to include in our magazine. We went around the school taking images os specific aspects that we wanted to feature in our magazine. We used students in our images so they could represent the school and help us create an image we wanted to perceive through our magazine. We also took images at the local sports centre and the local area surrounding our school.

Planning camera shots
i want my front cover to have an image of the front of the school with happy students entering to show how the school is a positive learning environment and students are happy to be coming in to learn. This will show how much of a positive impact the school has on each individual and not only is it a good working environment but is friendly and inviting. I am going to use a straight on mid angle shot to show the school with a clear background of the surroundings.
Inside the magazine on the contents page i will include a minimum of three images. One of a student reading a book showing the enjoyment to learn and how self reading is beneficial for ones personal self and is also educational. My second image will be of the achievements of the school.I will show all the trophies and medals the school has achieved from several sports events and activities showing he reader that as a school we work together to achieve great things. My third and final image will be of some students having a debate and a mini focus group on ideas they have for their own school magazine. This shows students can work together and gain others ideas and opinions to help benefit everyone.
The colours i will use will be the schools colours as i am representing them and would like to keep that as my theme. i also will be using brighter colours to attract the readers to make it more engaging.

Weekly journal
Today we looked at different camera shot and angles and how the shots portray different things and how the viewers see things differently from others from just looking at an image. we also thought about the colours we wanted to use and how much of a significant part a little aspect like the colours used can make such a difference. this helped us decide what we wanted to take pictures of and what shot we wanted to use.

Doble Page Spread Analysis
I have come across these two double page spreads that have been created by an AS Media Studies student like me which gave me ideas to help create my own Double Page Spread Analysis">.
I think they look really professional and effective because:
The font is really small and there is lots of it so it looks realistic
There are different pictures of different sizes which attract the attention of the readers
There are different quotes around the page to look at and read
There is no negative space
The colour scheme is effective because it is classy and easy to read
It's simple so there isn't too much to take away effect of the main content
These are the two from AS Study Students that I will use for inspiration:

WEEK 1
This week we completed a Photoshop workshop to help us make our Preliminary task of a school magazine. We played around with photoshop adding different effects to different images and using different fillers and filters to create different styles and effects. This was beneficial as we were able to find new ways of changing images and finding different ways of actually using workshop.
Focus Group - Music magazine
The focus group was beneficial in gaining more ideas of my original plans on my music magazine. I found the focus group useful as i got alternative ideas and got to expand on my own. i put fourth my ideas to my media group and they gave me good feedback which i will use when making my magazine. I received feedback on how the the group thought and felt about my idea and how to improve and expand on my idea. I got an insight into what i need to add and what i need to improve through suggestions and opinions. The feedback made me think about similar types of magazines already out there and how mine is going to incorporate some aspects but then still be different from the rest.

Magazine cover and contents page
For my front cover i took a photograph of two students entering the school building. This shows the school and that they students are going to the school to learn. I placed the image in the middle of the front cover as i wanted it to be the main focus. I chose the image as its for a school image and it related to the type of magazine i was trying to create. The photograph allows me to have my sidelines around the image and the front cover to still look clean and tidy. The sidelines are on whats going on in the school and whats previously happened. i used different fonts as they stand out and i found they attract the attention of the readers. It was also appropriate and suited the type of magazine i was trying to create. The title of the magazine i made as i thought it suited my target audience. it stands out and blends in with the background image.
I used three different images for my contents page. one was of the achievement of the school and the awards they've won. The second image was a picture of sixth form student having a debate and coming up with ideas for work. the third and final image was of a student reading a book during self study. I briefly used my sidelines but just added a bit more detail than i did on the front cover.
